Eastern Panhandle Clean Air ConnectionLaunches New Web Site
Martinsburg, WV - Eastern Panhandle Clean Air Connection is pleased to announce the launch of its new web site, www.cleanairconnection.org . The new site acts as the foundation of the Clean Air Connection outreach and education program, offering facts about ground-level ozone pollution, its negative effects on human health and the economy, tips for improving air quality, and a description of the Air Quality Action Days program. Also available are interactive features such as daily ground-level ozone forecasts and real-time air quality data. The site details Clean Air Connection's volunteer workplace-based program, The Workplace Connection, for which interested participants may register online. Online registration is also available for those interested in receiving daily summer air quality forecasts and/or Air Quality Action Day alerts. Other points of interest include a calendar of events, links to air quality resources and publications, and a media center. As a compliment to the web site, Eastern Panhandle Clean Air Connection published a short pamphlet about the Action Days program. The Eastern Panhandle region has joined this nationwide network of communities trying to improve local air quality. The pamphlet was recently distributed to citizens as an insert in The Journal and may also be found in several municipal offices and healthcare facilities. Eastern Panhandle Clean Air Connection is a public-private community partnership sponsored by the local governments of Berkeley and Jefferson Counties and the City of Martinsburg , and managed by the Region 9 Planning and Development Council. Their mission is to increase public awareness of air pollution through education and outreach, as well as encourage community participation in voluntary actions that will improve air quality in the Eastern Panhandle Region. ####
